What is the best destination for a first safari in Africa?

What is the difference between a safari in East Africa and a safari in Southern Africa?
East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda) is known for the Great Migration, the density of felines in the large open plains and unique experiences such as treks to meet gorillas or chimpanzees in Uganda.
Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe) offers a more immersive safari experience, with walking safaris, night safaris and private reserves allowing you to get off the beaten track.

What is the best time for a safari in Africa?
It varies depending on the destination. As a general rule, the dry season (May to October for southern Africa, June to October for East Africa) offers the best viewing conditions: low vegetation, animals concentrated around watering holes, and passable tracks.
But each season has its own advantages. The rainy season brings animal births, greenery, the arrival of migratory birds, increased reptile activity, and more affordable prices.
