Safari in Africa
My name is Alexis, I am a French-speaking safari guide in Africa.
For as long as I can remember, I have always been passionate about animals, and especially wildlife. For years, I have explored the wilds of Africa, driven by a deep fascination for its landscapes and unique fauna. It is this passion that led me to found Fundis'Africa, an agency dedicated to creating authentic and tailor-made journeys.
The goal is to offer you a total immersion, combining discovery, respect for nature and unforgettable moments.
I will always remember the first time I went to the African continent. It was in 2006, in Kenya.
This discovery of Africa was a real shock for me: I knew immediately that I had just discovered the place I would love most in the world. Seeing my first animals in the wild, and especially my first wild elephants, gave me such an intense emotion!
I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively around the world, but nothing, in my eyes, rivals the sensations of wild immensity that only Africa can offer.
I've been fortunate enough to return many times to explore different countries: South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, Namibia… to name just a few. And over the years, the desire to create a life project on this continent, linked to my passion, became increasingly clear.
That's how I decided to take the plunge and became a safari guide, more than 5 years ago now.
After graduating and gaining several experiences as a safari guide in South Africa, I decided to create my own agency. That's how Fundis'Africa was born.
In Zulu, the word "fundisa" means "to educate, to transmit." A value that fully embodies my vision of safari: to offer my clients a unique experience, made of sharing and transmission, in the heart of African nature and as close as possible to the animals, an experience they will cherish forever.
At Fundis'Africa, we offer tailor-made safaris, in French or English, far from the beaten track and mass tourism.
We are committed to helping you discover Africa in an authentic way: far from the crowds, in human-sized lodges, nestled close to nature, to experience encounters that are as beautiful as they are unexpected.

FGASA certified safari guide: what does that mean in practice?
The FGASA (Field Guides Association of Southern Africa) certification is the gold standard for safari guides in Southern Africa. It's not an honorary title or a certificate of passion. It's a demanding professional qualification, obtained after several months of intensive field training in South Africa, covering four fundamental areas: animal and plant species identification, interpreting wildlife behavior, bush safety protocols when encountering large, dangerous animals, and first aid in the wild.
I obtained my FGASA NQF2 diploma in 2021, after training conducted entirely in English. I am therefore a certified bilingual guide, able to lead travelers in both French and English with the same level of expertise and depth. In addition to this certification, I also hold a specialization in ornithology in Southern Africa and the savannah, a Level II qualification in the capture and handling of venomous snakes, and training in bush first aid.
This certification process is what allows me to go beyond simple observation on each safari. Knowing how to read a track in the red dust of the Limpopo, anticipating the behavior of a herd of elephants, identifying the warning call of a bird signaling a leopard in the undergrowth a hundred meters away: these skills aren't acquired by reading books. They're acquired in the field, in real-world conditions, under the supervision of experienced guides. That's what the FGASA certification guarantees.
The destinations I guide in Africa
My safaris cover eight African destinations that I know from having travelled through them in all seasons, not from having consulted them in a catalogue.
In South Africa, Kruger National Park and the adjacent private reserves form the core of my work. It is here that I was trained and certified, and it is here that my knowledge of the terrain is the deepest.
In Kenya, I first set foot on the continent in 2006. This long-standing relationship with Kenya gives me a perspective on this territory that few French-speaking guides can offer.
In Tanzania, I guide both the classic northern Tanzanian circuit (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire) and the secluded southern parks like Ruaha, for travelers who want Africa away from the crowds.
In Botswana, the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park offer the most exclusive safari experience on the continent.
In Namibia, Etosha National Park and Damaraland with its desert elephants offer one of the most unique experiences that Africa has to offer.
In Uganda, the Bwindi forest for the gorilla trek, an experience that regularly ranks among the most intense moments my clients have experienced.
In Zambia and Zimbabwe, the secluded parks of South Luangwa and Mana Pools are ideal for travelers seeking the wildest and least frequented parts of Africa.
