Authentic Botswana Safari

From the Okavango Delta to the Chobe River, each leg of this mobile safari immerses you in a different ecosystem, teeming with exceptionally rich wildlife. The itinerary traverses Botswana's wildest territories, guided by a French-speaking professional who knows these tracks like the back of his hand.

You'll sleep in the heart of the bush at each stage, in comfortable tents set up on private sites, while the team moves the camp for you. Comfort is there, and so is immersion.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Maun

    Welcome to Botswana!

Your adventure begins in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Upon your arrival at the airport, your French-speaking guide will greet you and take care of everything.

We set off towards the Moremi reserve and the first animal sightings soon follow.

In the evening, the bush camp awaits you in the heart of nature: dinner cooked by our chef, campfire, and the starry sky of the southern hemisphere for your first night in the bush.

  • Day 2: Okavango Delta - Moremi Game Reserve

The day begins with your first game drive in the Moremi Game Reserve, directly connected to the delta. Rich wildlife, changing landscapes, a unique atmosphere.

The Okavango Delta is a rare phenomenon: the only river in the world that does not reach the sea but disappears into the Kalahari Desert. This unique characteristic creates an exceptionally rich ecosystem.

Deluxe version: In the afternoon, you embark on a boat trip through the meanders of the Okavango, along the water between papyrus and floating islands.

  • Days 3 and 4: Heading to Khwai

You are heading to Khwai, on the border between Moremi and Chobe National Park.

The permanent river attracts a remarkable concentration of wildlife throughout the year: elephants swimming across, lions in the tall grass, and perhaps African wild dogs if luck is on your side.

Two nights in this area give you ample time to explore. The dense, verdant vegetation, nourished by the river, offers some of the most beautiful morning light on safari.

  • Days 5 and 6: Savuti

Savuti is another face of Botswana.

More arid, more mineral, with an extraordinary history: the Savuti River runs dry for over 30 years before flowing again, only to dry up once more. This exceptional phenomenon constantly shapes the region's flora and fauna.

The lions of Savuti are known to attack elephants, which gives the drives here a particular intensity.

Two nights in a mobile camp on a private site in the heart of the park.

  • Days 7-8: Chobe National Park

Chobe is famous for its elephants, and the spectacle lives up to expectations. Hundreds of individuals come to drink and cross the river every day during the dry season.

The drives run along the riverbanks and floodplains, and a boat trip on the river puts you right up close to the animals: hippos, crocodiles, and elephants are all within sight. For bird enthusiasts, Chobe's birdlife is simply spectacular.

  • Day 9: Grand finale in Kasane

One last morning drive to enjoy the last hours in the bush, before heading to Kasane airport in the middle of the day.

  • What's included in your safari

    This safari includes:

    • 8 nights in a mobile camp, either authentic or deluxe, on private sites within the reserves, with an en-suite tent (hot shower and private toilet).
    • All meals prepared by our chef, soft drinks (and alcoholic beverages for the deluxe version).
    • Drives in an open 4x4 vehicle, with one participant per window guaranteed.
    • Entrance fees to all parks and reserves visited: Moremi, Chobe, Savuti.
    • The boat excursions mentioned: Chobe River ( Okavango Delta in the deluxe version).
    • Accompaniment by a French-speaking guide, depending on the dates, for total immersion and personalized attention.
  • Extensions possible (on request)

    • Stay at Victoria Falls: Less than an hour from Kasane, Victoria Falls forms the world's largest curtain of water. A 2- to 3-night extension allows you to combine a visit to the falls with a cruise on the Zambezi River or a helicopter flight for a breathtaking aerial view.

    • Discover the delta from the air: A flight in a small plane or helicopter over the Okavango Delta radically changes your perception of this territory. From the air, you can appreciate the vastness of the aquatic labyrinth and the herds of elephants crossing the canals. This 30- to 45-minute experience is the perfect complement to ground drives.

    • Kalahari Exploration: The Kalahari covers over 80% of Botswana's territory. This semi-desert, home to dark-maned lions, cheetahs, and meerkats, offers a striking contrast to the delta's wetlands. A 3- to 5-night extension in this region perfectly complements the safari.

Why this route is unique in Botswana

This 9-day itinerary traverses three radically different ecosystems, making it one of the richest experiences Botswana has to offer.

The Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a unique aquatic labyrinth. Four-wheel drive excursions across the dry land alternate with boat trips on the canals. Elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, hippos, and an exceptionally rich birdlife coexist in an ecosystem shaped by seasonal floods from Angola.

The Moremi reserve

Moremi is the only officially protected area in the Okavango Delta. It combines dry land and flooded areas, creating an exceptional density of wildlife year-round. The Khwai River, which forms its northern border, is one of Botswana's most reliable spots for observing large predators: lions, leopards, African wild dogs, and hyenas are constant visitors to its banks.

Savuti and the Chobe River

Savuti is a unique, more arid territory, shaped by a capricious river that dried up for over 30 years before flowing again. Its lions are known to attack elephants, giving it a distinctive atmosphere. Further north, the Chobe River attracts hundreds of elephants daily during the dry season, creating one of the most impressive sights in southern Africa.

This itinerary is offered by Fundis'Africa in partnership with the experienced teams at Alex Botswana, who coordinate all logistics from your arrival in Maun to your departure from Kasane (or vice versa, Kasane-Maun). Let's discuss your project.
